The Designer Maker

Melissa White Goldsmith

Recognised for her precision and skill within the industry, Melissa White’s handcrafted works evoke opulence and luxury. Her designs are often inspired and centered around architecture, geometric pattern and form.

Before training as a goldsmith, Melissa gained both a First Class, Honours degree in Music and a Masters in Ethnomusicology from University College Cork. Melissa’s experience as a multi-instrumentalist gave her exceptional dexterity and a delicate touch, which transferred seamlessly to the world of goldsmithing.

Melissa completed her formal training in Jewellery Design and Goldsmithing with the Design and Craft Council of Ireland in July 2021. Graduating with 1st Class Honours, her works were showcased as part of the exhibition ‘Era’ in the National Design and Craft Gallery (July-August 2021). Some of her work is currently on display as part of the exhibition ‘Golden Past, Glittering Futures’ also in the National Design and Craft Gallery (6th June – 29th July 2023). Melissa’s work was selected and showcased in the Irish Arts Review to promote this exhibition (Volume 40, No.2, Summer 2023).

In March 2023, Melissa was invited to join the Irish Jewellers and Silversmiths Guild after she was nominated for membership in recognition of her history of work and background by the guild's founding members. Melissa is now a full member.
